In a medium pot, combine milk, sugar, and salt. Use a whisk until the sugar is blended in over medium-high heat.

Drop the heat to low and let it slowly bubble. Skip the whisking, but gently stir the bottom of the pot here and there for 30 to 45 minutes.

You’ll know it’s ready when the amount is halved and the color turns rich like syrup. Mix in vanilla.

If there’s froth or chunks, pour the mixture through a sieve. Allow it to cool down all the way.

Store inside a sealed jar in the fridge. It’ll last up to a month. Heat slightly if you need to pour it easily.
