Break up the ground beef in a large pan over medium heat as it cooks. Continue until the meat is browned evenly.

Toss the cabbage, dry onion, taco seasoning, and water into the pan with the beef. Give it a good stir to blend everything together.

Let the mixture cook, stirring now and then, until the cabbage softens just enough with a slight crunch, about 5 to 7 minutes.

Spread the shredded cheese across the top of the skillet's contents. Cover the pan and let it heat for 2 or 3 minutes until the cheese is gooey and melted.

Take the pan off the stove and serve right away while it's still hot and fresh.
