Valentine's Day Sugar Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cookie Dough

01 - 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
02 - 2 teaspoons baking powder
03 - 1 cup cold salted butter, cut into chunks (2 sticks)
04 - 1 cup granulated sugar
05 - 1 egg
06 - 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

→ Buttercream Frosting

08 - 1/2 cup softened butter (1 stick)
09 - 4 cups powdered sugar
10 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
11 - 2-3 tablespoons milk

→ Optional Glaze

12 - 2 cups powdered sugar
13 - 3 tablespoons milk
14 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
15 - 1-2 drops red liquid food coloring
16 - Valentine's Day themed sprinkles

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F
02 - Mix flour and baking powder in a small bowl. Separately, cream butter and sugar. Add egg and extracts, then slowly mix in dry ingredients
03 - Roll dough to just over 1/4 inch thick on floured surface. Cut with heart or X and O cutters, place on lined baking sheet
04 - Freeze cutouts 5-7 minutes, then bake 10-12 minutes
05 - Let cookies rest on baking sheet for 3 minutes before moving to cooling racks
06 - Beat butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Gradually add milk until frosting is creamy but holds shape
07 - Mix glaze ingredients until smooth. Dip cookies, add sprinkles, and let set 1-2 hours
