05 - 3 large eggs, at room temperature

10 - ⅔ cup sour cream

→ Coffee Buttercream Ingredients

11 - 1½ tablespoons espresso powder
12 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
13 - 2 cups powdered sugar
14 - chocolate sprinkles (optional)
15 - 1 tablespoon water
16 - 1½ cups soft unsalted butter

# Instructions:

01 - Simmer the butter and beer until the butter melts completely. Stir in the cocoa powder until it's smooth and let it cool down to room temperature.
02 - Mix the dry ingredients in one bowl. In another, whisk together eggs, vanilla, and sour cream. Add the beer mixture to the egg mix. Gradually fold the dry mix into the wet until it's smooth.
03 - Divide evenly into two greased 9-inch pans. Bake at 350°F for 35-38 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool fully before frosting.
04 - Beat the butter and powdered sugar together until fluffy. Stir the espresso with water to dissolve, then add it along with vanilla and mix well.
05 - Spread frosting between the layers, then cover the entire cake with the rest. Top it off with chocolate sprinkles if you'd like.

# Notes:

01 - Use pans that are 9 inches wide and at least 2 inches tall
02 - Inspired by King Arthur Flour
03 - Made with stout beer, which contains alcohol
