01 - 1 pound ground beef
02 - 1 small onion, diced
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 1 teaspoon ground cumin
05 - 1 teaspoon chili powder
06 - Salt and black pepper to taste
07 - 8-10 tostada shells
08 - 1 can (15 oz) refried beans (optional)

→ Toppings

09 - Shredded lettuce
10 - Diced tomatoes
11 - Chopped fresh cilantro
12 - Sliced avocados or guacamole
13 - Sour cream or Mexican crema
14 - Shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or queso fresco)
15 - Sliced jalapeños (optional)
16 - Salsa or hot sauce (for serving)

# Instructions:

01 - In a large skillet over medium heat, add the diced onion and garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary. Stir in cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to combine the flavors.
02 - If using refried beans, heat them in a small saucepan until warmed through. Lay out the tostada shells on a serving platter.
03 - Spread a layer of refried beans on each tostada shell (if using). Top with a generous portion of the cooked ground beef mixture. Add your desired toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro, sliced avocado or guacamole, sour cream, shredded cheese, and jalapeños.
04 - Serve the tostadas immediately with salsa or hot sauce on the side.
