Cut each sprout in half from top to bottom. Take off any damaged outer leaves, and trim the ends a little.

Put the halved sprouts in a bowl, pour hot water over them, and let sit for 15 minutes.

Get your air fryer ready by setting it at 375°F.

Once drained thoroughly, mix the sprouts with olive oil, a bit of salt, black pepper, and the optional red pepper flakes.

Spread the sprouts out in your air fryer basket. Cook at 375°F for 12 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through cooking to move them around.

Once crispy and hot, move them to a serving dish and dig in right away.
