Classic Creamed Pearl Onions (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 24 oz frozen pearl onions
02 - 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
03 - 3 tablespoons butter
04 - 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
05 - 3 tablespoons flour
06 - 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
07 - 3/4 cup vegetable broth
08 - Salt and pepper to taste

# Instructions:

01 - Heat the oven to 375°F.
02 - Boil the frozen pearl onions in a pot of water for 6-8 minutes and drain well.
03 - In a separate pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour, and cook for 1 minute, stirring often.
04 - Slowly whisk in the vegetable broth and heavy whipping cream. Add nutmeg, 1/4 cup of the parmesan cheese, and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 1-2 minutes.
05 - Stir the boiled onions into the sauce mixture.
06 - Spread the mixture into a well-greased 9x9 baking dish, and top with the remaining parmesan cheese.
07 - Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden and bubbly.
