Trim the ends of the asparagus stalks. Place the asparagus in a medium-sized casserole dish, drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Top with minced garlic.

Bake, uncovered, in the preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven.

Sprinkle half of the shredded Gruyere cheese evenly over the asparagus. Add the chopped cooked bacon on top, then finish with the remaining half of the shredded cheese.

Bake for an additional 10 minutes, uncovered, at 200°C (400°F). Serve immediately while the cheese is warm and melted.
